Warnings of flu and cold outbreak this winter

This week saw stark warnings about the possibility of a severe flu outbreak this winter, after the festival season, for which smartphones are partially to blame. Research by Pall Mall Medical company shows that the average number of people touching one smartphone handset rises from 4.7 to 7.3 during the Christmas season, increasing the chances of germs and bacteria being spread. According to them, ''the average Brit checks their phone every 12 minutes when they’re awake and coupling this with poor hand hygiene and a dirty smartphone screen creates the perfect storm for many of us to pick up the flu this winter''.

Absenteeism costs British business over £30bn a year and much of that is preventable. At Hive, we can help you minimise the risks of your staff being effected from this outbreak, as well as the other respiratory and gastrointestinal bugs which become prevalent during this time of year. Reducing the spike in absences you see over the winter months.

The viruses and bacteria are often spread from one hand to the next via frequently touched objects, such as phone receivers, light switches, taps, door handles and push plates. Our regular multi surface cleaner kills all these nasties.

However we recommend a weekly treatment of Xtra Protect as it leaves a microbial layer on surfaces which continues to kill germs and bacteria for up to 8 days! Giving your workforce an extra layer of protection from Flu viruses, Norovirus, E-coli, Salmonella Typhimurium, Listeria Monocytogenes, H1N1, MRSA and C. Difficile to name but a few.
