205,000 Plastic Bottles and Counting: Hive Cleaning's Ongoing Commitment to Plastic Reduction

Plastic reduction is central how we deliver sustainable office cleaning, and it shows up in more than just the products and methods we choose each day. Through our partnership with Plastic Bank, we also fund the recovery of plastic before it ever reaches the ocean, and that commitment has now reached a meaningful milestone.
Our latest certification, issued on 11 August 2026, confirms the funding of a further 5,000 plastic bottles gathered from the environment, equivalent to 100kg of plastic. Added to everything funded before it, our total impact with Plastic Bank now stands at 205,000 plastic bottles collected, equivalent to roughly 4,100kg of plastic kept out of our oceans and waterways. Every bottle collected through this partnership also supports the coastal communities doing the collecting, giving the work a social as well as an environmental return.
For a commercial cleaning company, plastic reduction naturally extends into the site we look after. We work continuously to cut single-use plastic from our own operations, choosing refillable and concentrate-based cleaning products wherever we can. Another major step is also using Toucan Eco cleaning systems, which uses only salt and water to clean, instead of buying chemicals in single-use plastic bottles. We also use recycled glass bottles in all the clients' offices for hand soap, lotion and other toiletries.
Our partnership with Plastic Bank sits alongside this operational work rather than replacing it, funding plastic recovery at scale while we keep reducing plastic use directly within our green cleaning practices.
This certificate marks another step in a commitment we plan to keep building on. As we continue growing our support for Plastic Bank, we'll keep sharing our progress, because reducing our footprint, and helping reduce the world's plastic footprint, is central to what a genuinely sustainable cleaning company should be doing.
