Hive Volunteering Initiatives 2025

Eco adventures with HIVE in 2025

INSPIRATION

At Hive Cleaning, our commitment to environmental stewardship goes beyond providing eco-friendly cleaning services — it’s woven into the fabric of everything we do.

Our passion for sustainability has inspired us to create three unique volunteering initiatives focused around AIR (Bees), LAND (Hive Wood) and WATER (Canal Clean Up)

These programs extend our core values and enable our customers, suppliers, and team members to actively engage in meaningful environmental projects.

Every activity is fully funded by Hive Cleaning and is operated on a not-for-profit basis.

We believe that volunteering is invaluable, offering personal growth, skill development, and the chance to forge deep connections while making a tangible impact on the world around us.

The benefits extend beyond the individual, contributing to the wellbeing of our wider community and the planet we all share.

Read below about each of the 3 amazing activities and explain how you can get involved.

BEES

Our Beekeeper Experiences, take place at our Kennington Park Apiary on the last Friday of each month from April through September from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

These events offer a unique glimpse into the fascinating world of bees and the crucial role they play in our ecosystem. Each session is a fascinating journey of discovery.

Depending on the season, volunteers have the opportunity to learn about the importance of pollinators, don a full beekeeper suit, and get an up-close look at the inner workings of a beehive.

But the experience doesn't stop there—it's also a creative workshop where you can put your DIY skills to the test by building honey frames, bottling freshly harvested honey, and even making candles.

These hands-on activities not only educate but also empower you to appreciate the delicate balance of nature in a fun, interactive way.

Our Beekeeper Experience is more than just an event—it's a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, deepen your understanding of sustainability, and contribute to the preservation of our environment. We hope you'll join us for one of these inspiring sessions and help us continue to foster a community dedicated to making a positive impact.

For larger groups, we offer bespoke events tailored to the unique needs and interests of your party.

TREES

In 2023, we embarked on an exciting new chapter of our ESG plan. We purchased a 7 Acre meadow in Devon, and began the process of restoring the land back into traditional broadleaf woodland affectionately know as Hive Wood

This reforestation project embodies our commitment to environmental sustainability and community spirit.

Hive Wood is more than just a green space; it is a living, breathing initiative designed to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, enhance the natural beauty of the area, boost biodiversity, and restore vital habitats.

One Friday in March every year, we gather a dedicated team of volunteers made up of staff, customers and supply partners, as well as forestry experts. With shovels and tree saplings in hand, we plant a mix of six native Devon tree species along with hedgerows.

Each tree planted and each meter of hedgerow restored represents a step towards a healthier planet and a testament to what we can achieve when we come together for a common cause.

We invite you to join us on this journey as we continue to nurture Hive Wood and watch it flourish for generations to come.

After a hard day of planting, we reward all volunteers with a well-deserved all-inclusive overnight stay at the Red Lion Hotel in Clovelly.

WATER

London's waterways are more than just scenic routes—they're vital ecosystems that deserve our care. During various afternoons in May to September, Hive Cleaning is proud to host a canal clean-up volunteering initiative that takes us on an inspiring journey from Paddington Basin to Camden Lock, all aboard eco-friendly electric Go Boats.

Our mission is simple yet impactful: to reclaim our canals and tow paths from the scourge of plastic and litter. It's truly astounding how much debris ends up in these waterways, and every volunteering effort makes a tangible difference in restoring the natural beauty and health of our urban environment.

As we drive along, the route treats us to some of London's most picturesque and iconic sites. Our journey begins at the tranquil Paddington Basin and winds its way through the charming waterways of Little Venice. We then glide past the bustling London Zoo before finally arriving at the vibrant Camden Lock.

Each landmark is a reminder of the rich heritage and dynamic energy of our city, making the clean-up not just an environmental effort but also a unique opportunity to see a different view of our amazing city.

All necessary equipment and training are provided so volunteers can focus solely on the rewarding work at hand.

At the end of the session, we gather in the pub for a debrief to celebrate our hard work and toast to the positive change we've achieved together.

This initiative is a testament to Hive Cleaning's commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. By joining us, you're not only helping to remove harmful litter from our waterways, but you're also contributing to a broader movement that prioritizes the health of our planet and the well-being of our city.

SPONSORSHIP

At our Kennington Apiary, we offer unique beehive sponsorship packages that provide a fantastic opportunity for companies to support sustainable beekeeping while enjoying exclusive benefits.

By sponsoring one of our beehives, you'll receive a plaque on the sponsors' wall, access to beekeeper events, and of course, delicious honey produced right in the heart of Kennington.

Our sponsorship packages are more than just a marketing opportunity; they are a chance to contribute to the health of our local ecosystem. By supporting our apiary, you help promote biodiversity and the wellbeing of pollinators in an urban setting. Plus, you'll be part of a community that values nature, sustainability, and innovation.

For companies that want to take it a step further, we offer dedicated company beehive packages. These can be fully tailored to reflect your brand identity—complete with your company logo on the beehive and branded honey jars.
