Our experiences backed up by new Research into paying a Living Wage


We at Hive have found that staff paid The London Living wage are more motivated, productive and feel more invested in, which altogether results in better standards and increased staff retention.

Our findings have been backed up by new research by Middlesex University London and the University of Liverpool (funded by the Barrow Cadbury Trust). There is a clear business case for the Living Wage.

Key findings from the report include:

  • 72% of respondents said they saw a positive effect on their brand reputation

  • 60% saw a positive effect on supervisor/employee relations;

  • 43% said employee morale and productivity improved;

  • 77% of respondents said they paid the Living Wage because it was in line with their company values;

Small and medium enterprises make up over half of the over 2,800 employers across the UK who have signed up voluntarily to pay the Living Wage, currently £9.75 for London. At Hive we are very pround to be one of them.
