Since 2017, a portion of the profit from each contract has gone towards supporting a beehive in our London apiary. This has been one of our most popular and rewarding initiatives, which supports London's biodiversity and it has also created lots of interest among our customers and supply partners, and many of the beehives now carry their logos.

Our bees are housed at Bee Urban in Kennington Park, a social enterprise that we love supporting. We run monthly Beekeeping Experience Days, where we learn about bees, build beehives, harvest honey and more. It’s part of our three unique volunteering initiatives focused around AIR (Bees), LAND (Hive Wood) and WATER (Canal Clean Up).
Our Beekeeper Experiences take place at our Kennington Park Apiary on the last Friday of each month from April through September from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
These events offer a unique glimpse into the fascinating world of bees and the crucial role they play in our ecosystem. Depending on the season, volunteers have the opportunity to learn about the importance of pollinators, don a full beekeeper suit, and get an up-close look at the inner workings of a beehive. But the experience doesn't stop there—it's also a creative workshop where you can put your DIY skills to the test by building honey frames, bottling freshly harvested honey, and even making candles.
We were so pleased to hold our first Beekeeping Experience session of 2025 on a very sunny Friday in April, with Bee Urban’s garden in full bloom, fragrant, colourful and buzzing with bees. We welcomed some 30 volunteers from several clients and supply chain partners, and it was endearing to see everyone’s excitement. One of our visitors even claimed that it’s one of the best days of her life as she loves bees and was so impressed by the opportunity to get up close to her favourite creatures and learn about them. See our little video about our day below:
Our volunteering session is not only about learning about bees, but also some hands-on, satisfying jobs, such as making frames for honeycombs, and we were pleased to see that everyone had good carpentry skills, and the frames we made will be used in the apiary.
It’s also more than just an event—it's a chance to meet new friends and spend time with colleagues over a coffee and pastries in the park, connect with nature, deepen your understanding of sustainability, and contribute to the preservation of our environment – and go home with jars of delicious honey.
We hope you'll join us for one of these inspiring sessions and help us continue to foster a community dedicated to making a positive impact. If you are interested in joining us, please contact louis@hivecleaning.com for more information.
