If you have ever worked or communicated with Hive Cleaning, you would know how much our environmental priorities mean to us. When we learned about The Planet Mark certification last year and their activities, it was an obvious decision for us to get involved. We are proud to announce that we are Planet Mark Certified for the second year running now!
We have a number of sustainability and environmental initiatives, such as reducing the use of plastics and toxic chemicals, using renewable energy, purchasing electric vehicles and using green technologies. However, it was very helpful to collect our data for all these activities and operations and try to see how they fit into our overall environmental strategies.
A number of our activities and operations are measured and quantified for the certification, starting from our gas and electricity use to our recycling rates. We are very pleased to report that this year we’ve seen a significant decrease in our carbon footprint (56%!) and our target is to reach to a further 5% reduction by next year.
Along with sustainability indicators, the Planet Mark also quantifies our social value activities, such as supporting charities, Teenage Cancer Trust, Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue, British Beekeepers Association, trying to increase the urban bee population, being a London Living Wage employer, continuously training and looking after our employees, working with ethical suppliers to name a few.
